Introduction

  • The PDS is a national database of all NHS patients in England, Wales and the Isle of Man.

  • A field can be added onto forms within Radar Healthcare that searches this database and captures patient details onto the form. The information is also available in Analytics and Reporting.

  • This will be standard with LFPSE version 6.

PDS in Action

  • The work to add the PDS field to a form is completed by Radar Healthcare.

  • When completing the form, your users will be able to search for a patient using their NHS number.
  • Once the search has been successful the user can select the plus icon to add the patient to this form.
  • There is an option to enter the patients details manually if the search has been unsuccessful.

Implementing the PDS

  • To implement the PDS you will need to request that Radar Healthcare embed this into your chosen form by contacting either your Customer Success Manager or Project Manager.

  • The only exception to this is LFPSE Version 6, where the field comes as standard.

  • When creating a form, you simply need to put a placeholder at the point you would like the field to appear. You could do this using the INFO element.
  • Then, notify your Customer Success Manager or Project Manager that you require the field. You need to let us know which form you would like the field to appear in and whereabouts in the form it should be.

  • Radar Healthcare will then replace this placeholder with the PDS search.

  • Once the field has been implemented, your Customer Success Manager/Project Manager will confirm via email it is ready for you to use.

  • We would recommend viewing and testing the form before publishing.

FAQ

Can this work with LFPSE prior to version 6?

It is possible to use the PDS search with any form, however, LFPSE version 6 is the first to have the PDS embedded as standard.  Previous versions can use the PDS but this would be in addition to the existing questions about medicines and devices and may cause duplication.

Can I use the PDS for my Electronic Patient Record?

This is possible, however, you will need to have a new custom list created, as the PDS would no integrate into the existing one.
